Description

The Coyote hammer mill was developed in response to two challenges that faced ABC Hansen – the first – being the availability of an affordable, higher capacity hammer mill for medium intensity users, that don’t need the exceptional strength and longevity offered by the Hippo Hammer mill range, while still maintaining a good build quality – and the second being the lack of a hammer mill with swinging hammers in the Hippo hammer mill range – as all Hippo’s have allways had, and allways will have fixed hammers. Swinging hammers have some advantages compared to fixed hammers, being

  1. Swinging hammers have a bit longer life – due to their self deflecting ability
  2. Swinging hammers are better for moist and fibrous materials
  3. Swinging hammers are more forgiving when encountering variable and foreign material

The disadvantage of swinging hammers is a bit less consistent particles size, as well as more moving parts, making for slightly higher maintenance on the machine.

As with all ABC Hansen Hammer mills, the Coyote is fitted with an adjustable toothed infeed adjustment flap, preventing overfeeding and ensuring optimal, consistant performance.

The coyote rebels against social conventions. It is an Amerindian symbol of military power. The Coyote mill by ABC Hansen similarly challenges conventional milling norms successfully and fits in between the Hippo Hammer Mill Range and the smaller Pygmy – much like the Coyote that fills the gap between the Jackal and Gray Wolf.

While staying true to the ABC Hansen bolt together hammer mill philosophy, the Coyote is a full mild steel plate metal hammer mill, bolted together instead of welded, with easily replaced, affordable spare parts, and the mill uses the same screens as the Hippo #1 mill to ensure stock availability of wear parts.

The mill is suitable for intermediate users, who are looking for a robust entry level commercial mill, and for clients for whom the fixed hammer solution on the Hippo hammer mills isn’t delivering the required results or performance – especially with wet, sticky and fibrous materials – and for whom consistent particle size isn’t a determining factor.

To reduce air flow out of the outlet of the mill, the mill’s head has been fitted with a filter cloth, allowing clean air to flow out of the mill while milling, and to reduce the blow out from the outlet of the mill, reducing dust whilst milling.

The mill is set up – like the Hippo mills, as a back feeding mill, with a 180Ø screen – with an effective screen area of 1,100cm² and a tip speed of 50m/second.

The mill is available with a 4KW or a 7.5KW 380V electric drive – depending on power availability and capacity requirements of the customer.

Capacities – based on the 7.5KW drive maize through
1.6mm screen – 1300KG/HR
3mm screen – 1,700KG/HR
6mm screen – 2,200KG/HR
