Description
Horizontal auger fillers, also sometimes known as valve packers are mainly used for packing powdered and granular products.
The material is usually discharged into the main hopper with a separate conveyor – and the level in the hopper is controlled with a low level sensor, to maintain the level in the hopper, resulting in accurate packing.
Horizontal auger fillers or valve packers were originally designed for filling bags with valves for filling – due to the low amount of air that they transport with the product when filling the bags, but they are used for packing in normal bags as well – due to their versatility.
The auger filler’s output weight is determined in two ways
a) The timing of the rotation. Timing can be set at 5/10/15 seconds per fill
b) The speed of rotation of the auger – which can be set from 145RPM to 1450RPM
The screw is chain driven, ensuring no slippage of the drive – ensuring repeatable, accurate packaging.
The feeding hopper has a high capacity of 1.3m³ – enabling constant head pressure – and at the same time leaving some buffer space for the production process before it.
Discharge is controlled with a foot switch – with each switch contact resulting in one discharge.

– Usually not suitable for pelleted feeds, breakage sensitive products – as the product is conveyed with an auger – which may cause mechanical damage to the product being packed
