Advantages of the grain pump system
a. Ease of operation – a single system for loading and unloading silos
b. Ease of maintenance – 8 x bearings and one or two gearboxes to maintain (depending on configuration)
c. Ease and low cost of expansion
d. Low grain breakage during handling
e. Long lifespan – depending on model – up to 400,000T can be handled before major maintenance is neccesary
f. Low power consumption
g. Expansion ability on a single grainpump line of up to 120m horizontal and 40m vertical.
Disadvantages of the grainpump system
a. Can only be installed in a straight line – the grain pump can’t twist of go around corners – so if space is limited on the site – for expansion – this might not be the correct system
b. When expanding – it is usually difficult to install different heights of silos in the same line – so when expanding – similar height silos should be used
c. The system is unable to load and unload at the same time – which makes the grainpump unsuitable for grain storage facilities with dryers, or for multigrain storage facilities – where it is crucial to be able to load one commodity, whilts unloading another type of commodity
Should I opt for the grainpump system?
The grainpump system is suitable for most users – the cost is about the same as for a bucket elevator and chain conveyor type system, whilst offering less maintenance and less moving parts. The grainpump will usually be sugested for commercial and large farm operations, that will be moving a large volume of grain through the system – due to it’s long lifespan. It would be suggested for operations that are handling more than 5,000T of grain per year. Smaller volume users, may consider the bucket elevator and roof auger option
System consists of:
- 1 x Grainpump loop system (standard 50TPH of 100TPH – higher capacities are also available)
- 2 x Silo (sizes available from 250T to 5,000T in this layout
- Sweep augers optional
- Channel or full floor aeration (customer to specify – to help make a decision on what your need for aeration is – see here
- As standard – support towers for grainpump vertical legs, and catwalk support for horizontal sections on grainpump (catwalk optional on silos 250T-1,000T)
- Set of ducting and spouting for connection discharge from silos over dump pit, or to production bins
- Auger unload of dump pit
