The plate mill attachment – also sometimes referred to as a steel burr mill attachment – is an attachment to the Universal Mill.
Typically used in the milling of wet and oily products – such as nut butters and oilseeds such as soya, sunflower and flax seeds, but can also be used for milling of dry granular products as well.
The mill uses two steel burred plates, to mill down products to pastes and powders, and the fineness of the grind is determined by setting the plates closer or further apart.
Indicative capacity on the plate mill – when milling nut butters – is 250kg/hr – to produce fine/smooth nut butters, and approximately 400kg/hr when milling dry granular products such as grains and spices.
The plate mill runs at 2000RPM shaft speed, and creates medium heat in the milling process – around 60-75ºC – which is suitable especially when milling wet and oily products – for heating the product, so that it is flowable after milling – for further processing and packaging.
Plates are cast from high quality steel alloys – and plates are reversible – giving exceptional lifespan on this attachment.
