Temperature Monitoring

Description

Ons of the most important items in a silo complex – is an accurate temperature monitoring system.

Temperature monitoring enables you to know what is going on inside your silo – at all times – by measturing the temperature at numerous points in the silo on a continuous basis – which is especially important in long term storage of grain (more than 2 months)

The first thing that happens when you start getting bacterial, fungal or insect activity in your silo, is a heat buildup in the problem area. Increases in specific areas of even 1ºC in an area in the silo can be indicative of a problem that needs to be addressed. The temperature cables will also quickly show you when you start getting moisture migration in the silo – with the changes in temperature in the  grain. (for why this is important – have a look at our articles about aeration)

By measuring and monitoring the temperature in the silo, you’re able to quickly detect and address the problem – either with aeration or fumigation – to reduce or prevent the damage to your grain.

The Procer system that ABC Hansen offers – is an easy install, and easy to operate system.

The entire system is wireless – so there are no signal cable to be laid and ducting and rackings to be installed. The cables are installed through the roof of your silo, and there is a wifi receiver/sender mounted to the roof of the silo (optional GSM modules also available for remote silos).

The amount of cables and the amount of sensors is determined by the diameter and height of the silo – for optimal measurement of the grain.

Specifications:
Accuracy: ±0.5º
Range: -55ºC to 125ºC
No need for re-calibration
Keeps an accurate history
Automatic generation of heat maps, graphs and reports
Real time monitoring – sensor readings updated every 2 minutes
The temperature monitoring can be monitored by the PLC – and automatically start aeration once pre-set parameters are met.
