Description
Single silo, with bucket elevator and and horizontal chain conveyor, and unload auger to dump pit.
Advantages of the bucket elevator and chain conveyor system
a. Familiar system and equipment configuration – making maintenance easier for persons with prior grain handling equipment knowledge
b. Easily accesible moving parts – with access from towers and catwalks
c. Easy expansion – if set up correctly from the initial project
d. Low grain breakage during handling
e. Long lifespan – depending on model – up to 300,000T can be handled before major maintenance is neccesary on chain conveyors and bucket elevator
f. Low power consumption from bucket elevator and chain conveyors
g. Ability to make different configuratoins on silo positions – such as 2×2 or 3×3 configuratoins when expanding – as the chain conveyors can be set up at angles to each other, and chain conveyors are able to run at inclines of up to 5ยบ without significant capacity losses.
h. When expanding – it is possible without much adjustment to install lower height silos in the same system.
Disadvantages of the bucket elevator and chain conveyor system
a. More moving and maintenance parts than with a grain pump system
b. When expanding – there are limits to the length that chain conveyors can be (around 60m) which will neccesity piggybacking chain conveyors.
c. The system as standard is unable to load and unload at the same time – which makes this layout unsuitable for loading and unloading the silos at the simultaneously – unless an additional bucket elevator is installed.
d. Depending on the layout of multi silo systems – it may be neccesary to install a separate collection chain conveyor – to collect grain from the silo unloads – and transfer to the bucket elevator.
Should I opt for the bucket elevator and chain conveyor system?
The bucket elevator and chain conveyor system is suitable for most users – the cost is about the same as for a grain pump system , whilst causing a bit more maintenance and more moving parts. The bucket elevator and chain conveyor system will usually be sugested for commercial and large farm operations, that will be moving a large volume of grain through the system – due to it’s long lifespan. It would be suggested for operations that are handling more than 5,000T of grain per year. Smaller volume users, may consider the bucket elevator and roof auger option
System consists of:
- 1 x Bucket elevator (standard 50TPH/100TPH/150TPH – but other capacities available)
- 1 x Silo (sizes available from 500T to 5,000T in this layout
- Horiontal chain conveyor supported by catwalk
- Sweep augers optional
- Channel or full floor aeration (customer to specify – to help make a decision on what your need for aeration is – see here
- As standard – guy wire support kit for bucket elevator (elevator support tower is optional)
- Set of ducting and spouting for connection of bucket elevator to chain conveyor, and for offloading downpipe over dump pit area
- Auger unload of dump pit
- Auger unload of silo
This is a standard layouts that is shown of our silo complexes – these are not final designs, and the layout, silo capacities, handling equipment and capacities can be adjusted to customer specific requirements.
