Description
The FLATTOP grain spreader improves the distribution of fines in the grain body inside silos. As the grain enters the silo peak, the FLATTOP effectively spreads the grain throughout the silo structure. It utilizes an initial disc and an inner ring whic increase the distribution of fines accross the surface, whilst loading.
The standard spreader is able to spread grain in silos with up to 18.5m in diameter, and can handle capacities up to 150 tons per hour. The adjustable wings on the spreader – allows the operator to set the aggresivenes of the spread within the silo, directly from the top of the spreader.
The FLATTOP spreader is a motorised spreader with a sealed motor housing and maintenance free bearings – for optimal reliability.
Why should you spread your grain in your silo?
- By spreading the grain when loading – a level grain profile is created in the silo, instead of the normal conical heap created by the angle of repose of the grain. This allows for a more even aeration throughout all the grain
- By spreading the fines – you prevent a fines funnel in the grain heap – as with normal loading – the fines tend to congregate at the cenre of the silo, due to their higher angle of repose – creating pockets of impurities in the grain heap, that can cause reduced efficiency when aerating, and can also cause hot spots, due to the fines tending to have more problems with higher moisture and insect activity than the clean grain
- By removing the fines funnels in your silo, air is able to move more freely and evenly through the grain – allowing for better airflows and reduced aeration time.
- When performing in-bin drying – and using a stirring machine and full floor aeration for your grain – it is required to have a level heap in the silo, so that the stirring machine can move freely above the grain heap, to stirr the grain, and improve airflow
- Improved lifespan of silos – due to the even distribution of lateral pressures to the silo sidewalls from the even heap, the structural integrity of the silo is protected – giving a longer lifespan on your silo structure
